Safety Within The Holiday Home
If you are thinking about renting out your holiday home then you need to make sure the area is safe for other people to stay in. Although insurance for holiday homes will cover you against everything it is best to have safety precautions in place to avoid even having an accident.
Pool Safety
When you are around the pool then safety is the main concern. The area around the pool is always getting slippery and this can result in people falling over. if you have not purchased your holiday home or are looking into having one built make sure you look into tiles that are not slippery. Although gravel tiles are irratating for the feet I have to say that it is a lot better than slipping and cracking your head open.
One of the key things to have around the pool is a pool fence, this ensures that any children guests may have with them are safe. The great thing about these is that they can be removed if kids are not staying.
Carbon Monoxide
This has proven to be one of the msot dangerous gases to human kind simply because there is no way to tell that it is in the home without a sensor. Even in its lowest form this gas can cause very bad long term problems and can in its highest concentration can cause death in 30 seconds. The best way to combat this is to get a meter that can pick the gas up.
Anything Else
On top of both of these just always make sure you have everything a holiday home needs to be safe. Overseas property insurance will help you out but it will not prevent death from occurring. If it is a cottage you own then look into holiday cottages insurance.
Do car rental places rip you off
If like many others you are intending to travel away this year then stop and think about how exactly you are going to get around. If you are staying in an hotel or villa that is central to everything then it is safe to say you are only likely to need a taxi to and from the airport cause you certainly will not be wanting to walk those cases with you after a day of travelling.
Of course for most people this really is not an option so you are likely to rent a car for the duration of your time away. However there is a major issue with this in 2009 and that is that British travellers could be hit with an excess fee as high as 1,600 when they are actually hiring their car.
It is known that most car rental prices do tend to include collision damage waiver which will cover you from accidental damage to the car as well as theft protection they do not often make it known that you will be liable for the excess in the same way you would be for your own car. Of course car rental companies will help you out on this but will charge you anything between 500 to 1600 just for this excess which is certainly enough to ruin the whole holiday or a t least a few days if this does happen.
The excess is usually not explained to you until you actually collect your car which by this stage the car company will try to sell you their own form of insurance. This is going to cost you a lot and will in most cases not cover you against everything.
Sometimes it is best to actually fix this insurance before you go and can actually work out from as little as 2.98 a day. Gadget insurance can also be useful when going away as it will cover you from all those technological things you like to take with you.
Of course if you are not going away then why not check your home insurance policy. Pest invasion can be nasty, does it cover you from this? If it isnt then you are going to need something known as home emergency insurance.
Where Should You Stay When Going Abroad? (Part 1)
There are so many places in which you can actually stay in and perhaps even look into buying when you go on holiday. Here are just some of the ones everyone is aware of.
Apartment
An Apartment is actually a nice idea. A lot of people wrongly feel that staying in one of those apartments is not the best way to take your holiday as they feel it is for the lower classes, this is because you are with lots of other people that you do not know and the food and drink is usually all included.
So what is the problem, it is a brilliant idea? There are hundreds of people out there that do not want anyone other than their partner to see them in thier bikini, then again there are others that do not care. So many people actually like to sit down with the unknown and just have a few drinks.
Of course there are going to be some negative things. Arguments and fights can break out at these places. The thing is, there are a lot of people at these kinds of places so after a few drinks disagreements can easily break out.
Hotel
There are the complete opposite of an apartment. These of course are a ot fancier than the apartment choice. I have been to only two hotels, one was a three star one and situated in Paris and the other was a five star which was in Florida, the five star was of course a lot better and was certainly worth all of the money.
The entire experience was made even better simply because the hotel was a Disney one, these are easily the best of the best. Many of the bigger and better hotels will actually hire top chefs to work for them, this means the food is usually very good in these places.
insurance for holiday homes can be very higly priced which is why there different insurance policies available for different destinations like home insurance in Spain.
However getting insurance for second homes is really going to benefit you in the long run.
