Yes, it's true that Apple can't tell if your iPhone is jailbroken or not. Jailbreaking does void your contract, which means if anything happens to your iPhone they won't be responsible for fixing or replacing it, but if you ever have to send your iPhone in or take it to an Apple store you can easily un-jailbreak it beforehand by restoring it to its original settings in iTunes. No one will be able to tell it was ever jailbroken, so as far as they know it will still be under warranty. Trust me I've been there and done that.
As far as safety, there is always a minor risk you have to take when jailbreaking your device. After all it's hacking. The jailbreak programs will always warn you by saying "do it at your own risk" so they're not reliable for anything, but I can tell you from my personal experience that I've never damaged my iPhone in any way by jailbreaking, and I've done it many times before. If something goes wrong just un-jailbreak it (so simple, takes about 15 mins for iTunes to completely restore your iPhone).
No one can tell you that iPhone 3GS insurance coverage is very important or even highly advisable. The only particular person that may achieve that end is you. I just remembered I have iPhone 3GS insurance via Best Buy. It covers screen damage! Yay… I'm going first thing in the morning.

yes u can, they will provide u with a new iphone if they ca find some problem with your iphone or if u tell them ur experiencing problems with it..
