The purpose of small business insurance coverage is so that a business can transfer a risk that they can afford, for example an insurance payment once a month, for a risk they cannot afford, which would be a lawsuit claim against their company.

I pay less than $300 per year for liability insurance. My insurance company places certain requirements on my services. For instance, I have to have a contract with an indemnity clause or the insurance won't cover me. I've never had to use my insurance though.
I suggest checking out the two big national DJ associations. The national association of mobile entertainers (NAME) and the American Disc Jockey Association (ADJA). Each of them has an approved insurance provider. There's also a company WeDJ that has access to insurance as an addon to their regular packages. You might try them also.
Any of these organizations might also get you some more GIGs.
As a disclaimer, I'm a member of the American Disc Jockey Association and I'm part of the local chapters leadership so that's obviously the association that I prefer. I'm also a client of WeDJ.

Some probably do.
First of all, Obama wants to make insurance more available to all. And change the system so that it is cheaper, and also so that the insurance companies find it harder to get out of paying for treatment. The system he is proposing looks similar to that which works in Holland and Switzerland where private companies are involved in providing insurance.
Second, of course universal health-cover sucks. That is why we in Western Europe have it. We think, hmm, our healthcare system sucks. I know, lets keep it. I guess that is the same with Japan and Canada as well.
FACT – the USA spends more on healthcare PER PERSON than any other nation on the planet.
FACT – the US has higher death rates for kids aged under five than western European countries with universal health coverage.
That means that a dead American four year old would have had a better chance of life if they were born in Canada, France, Cuba, Germany, Japan etc, all of which have universal health coverage.
